Frequently asked questions

Psychotherapy follows a relational family therapy model.
A therapeutic cycle consists of 12 sessions over approximately 12 consecutive weeks, one session per week, each lasting 50 minutes.
The introductory session is dedicated to getting to know each other and presenting how psychotherapy works. You gain insight into my approach, and we discuss whether further collaboration makes sense. If you decide to join the process, we agree on a regular session time that usually remains consistent.
The first few sessions are dedicated to a deeper understanding of your life situation. Together we explore how your difficulties show up in everyday life, which experiences and relationships have shaped your story, and what you need most right now. On this basis we shape a therapeutic agreement and define the goals you want to achieve in the process. In the process we explore patterns of thinking, feeling, and behavior that may limit you, and gradually develop new, more supportive ways of coping with challenges. We use conversation and different therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs.
In sessions you may talk about anything. All feelings are welcome — from sadness, fear, anger, and helplessness to joy, love, and hope. Silence can also hold therapeutic value. In this space you can be as you are. I will accompany you with presence, understanding, and professional support.
Psychotherapy brings the best results with consistent participation. Key factors for change are your willingness to work on yourself, explore inner experience, and gradually shift established patterns. If intense distress arises during the process, you may send me a message when needed.
The duration of psychotherapy is individual and depends on the nature and complexity of your difficulties, as well as your readiness for change. Just as it took time for certain patterns to form, reshaping them also takes a process. For deeper work and more lasting change, we often choose a longer therapeutic process, especially when difficulties are long-standing or recurring. Research in neuroscience suggests that psychotherapy can also contribute to lasting changes in brain functioning. The process can also be repeated or continued in further cycles by agreement.
Therapy concludes when you feel you have made meaningful shifts and can carry new insights and ways of acting into everyday life on your own. In the closing phase, we focus on consolidating change, reflecting on the path traveled, and preparing for continued independent growth. We usually reserve one or two sessions for closure and evaluation of the process.
Confidentiality is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. Therapeutic work follows the ethical code of the Slovenian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the Personal Data Protection Act (Ur.l.RS, No. 86/2004). Participation in therapy is voluntary and you may end it at any time.

When you are ready, I am here.

The first step is not a commitment to long-term therapy - it is simply a space to ask questions and orient yourself.
